In two of my previous blog posts I discussed what might be going on at St. Mary’s following the exodus of first team players and explored the possibility that either the club was just a victim of egos and player power or if the board were actively looking to ‘cash in’.

But, with the club in the verge of signing goalkeeper Fraser Forster for a fee of around £10million from Celtic and Ronald Koeman confirming interest in both Romanian defender Florin Gardos, who plays for Steaua Bucharest, and Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon is this the evidence we need that the club was never ‘asset stripping’?

  1. To fit in with ffp and still allow RK to build his own team, as per his contract, meant that certain ‘floating’assets had to be sold, simple as.
