How Southampton proved they are a class above Everton

So it seems we can add wiping out Southampton forwards when they are in mid-air to the list of things Premier League officials aren’t punishing these days.

The decision by John Moss not to award Saints a penalty for Phil Jagielka’s inflight scything down of Shane Long when he had a perfect view of it is beyond belief, and as bad a decision as you will see on any football pitch in the world all season.

Thankfully on this occasion it didn’t stop Saints from gaining a deserved three points, in fact they took the lead from the resultant corner (also a wrong decision, it was either a penalty or a goal kick), but it could have done, and that level of incompetence is unacceptable.
